What is a Certified Inspection Manager?
A certified inspector, also known as KA or certified control manager, is responsible for ensuring that your project complies with building regulations. They are professional and independent experts who ensure that necessary inspections are conducted and that regulations are followed. For projects requiring building permits and/or notifications, it is mandatory under the Planning and Building Act (PBL) to have a certified inspector. Furthermore, the legislation stipulates that the inspector must be independent, meaning they cannot be closely related to the person carrying out the work or work for the same company.
All our inspectors are certified by accredited certification bodies and hold both N (Normal projects) and K (Complex projects) authorizations. The building committee determines the level of authorization required for your specific project.
What does a Certified Inspection Manager do?
A Certified Inspector (KA) has a broad range of responsibilities and a central role throughout the construction process. Their tasks include:
- Establishing an Inspection Plan: A detailed plan outlining the inspections that need to be conducted during the project to meet regulatory requirements.
- Announced and Unannounced Visits: The Inspection Manager must conduct both announced and unannounced site visits to ensure compliance with regulations and conditions.
- Participation in technical consultations: Meetings where the technical aspects of the project are discussed with authorities.
- Final report: Upon project completion, the inspector must provide a report to the developer and the building committee, which forms the basis for the final decision required for the building to be put into use.
